WooHoo!!I found the internet! The place I work doesnt have it but this dusty old library has its own internet cafe....sweet!

Have finished my first week in my new job and it feels like I've been here a few years already, its is just beyond busy...total craziness, but organised in a weird way so it kinda works and is quite alot of fun

My days involve waking up the kids every morning, taking them to breakfast, then to classes, then I do the football coaching in the afternoons. Then theres the fun part of getting 100 14year olds to bed every night! Theres trips on the weekends aswell....we went to Stonehenge on Sunday (you didnt miss much Zach, just a pile of rocks!). I'm so so tired, you never switch off in this job and thefew hrs a week I get off I just get in my car and drive off somewhere. Its alot of fun tho and everyone works together so it turns out to be a good laugh, all the people are really nice and theres always a few beers going round every night!

It is so strange not having internet though, I dont know what to do with myself! Talking to everyone on msn/aim meant that I never felt that far away....but here is totally different, I'm completely cut off which is weird, I really am going to start looking into coming back next summer...england really isnt that great, just the cool accents!

Sorry i missed aubbiefest, looked like you guys had fun tho!

Yankee Visit [Jun. 29th, 2006|11:46 am]

Time for an english update methinks......

Zach and Zulu flew out last week to visit the better brit and Sara. I took them round all the sites (and the Pubs!) and it seemed like they enjoyed it, hopefully they did. It was good seeing them again and can I just say that drunk Zulu is extremely entertaining! I put the pics on Facebook

I got home yesterday from Sara's where we had a few (= alot) of drinks for her 21st Birthday, it was really good and Zach definitely enjoyed all the different beers we were telling him to drink. Just don't ask him about the memory card on his camera....we heard that story quite a few times!!

Those guys have all gone down to London for a few days now and they fly home on Saturday. I've come home to pack for my new job in Salisbury. I leave tommorrow morning and I'm there til 13th August. Not sure if there is internet there (I dont think technology has reached southern english towns!) so I might be out of touch for a while, but if I get near a computer I'll let you all know how its going and if I've scared any of the kids yet!!

LEB

P.S. England are in the Quarter Finals of the World Cup!! COME ON ENGLAND!!!!

Reverse Culture Shock
a common reaction to returning home from studying abroad. It is an emotional and psychological stage of re-adjustment, similar to your initial adjustment to living abroad. Symptoms can range from feeling like no one understands you or how you’ve changed to feeling panicked that you will lose part of your identity if you don’t have an outlet to pursue new interests that were sparked abroad. Your reactions to re-entry may vary, but common signs are:
• Restlessness
• Rootlessness
• Boredom
• Depression
• Uncertainty
• Confusion
• Isolation
• Wanting to be alone
• “Reverse homesickness”

.....kinda sums me up today.

It was great talking to everyone on the webcam last night, hopefully we can make that a regular thing. Just wish I had sumat to do in this country! How long til zach and zulu visit? do you guys want to come a bit early?? or does anyone else?? haha

Well, after the crazy time I've had the last few days I thought I'd use this live journal thingy to fill you all in.

My mum and dad picked me up from the airport on monday morning and woke me up in arrivals by getting me to pose for about 20 photos! When i got home, there was banners and flags with "welcome home" on and I was mauled by my extremely over-excited dogs at the front door. I also got to eat a bacon sandwich with brown sauce on...heaven! I didnt expect all the fuss, but it was definitely nice! Ive tried adding a pic of when I arived at the airport, but it don't seem to be working.

Have finally unpacked everything now (Yay!) and I can see my bedroom floor for the first time since August. Everyone seemed to like the little pressies I brought back for them, especially the cookies!
The next six weeks are going to be about keeping myself busy until zach and zulu come to visit and I start work. I've being doing ok so far, went out drinking with my english mates last night and doing the same again tonight. Been going out with my dogs for about an hour every day aswell, they're so dopey they even make me look good at football! (thats soccer to all you guys!) Talked to sara aswell today and I'm probably going to be seeing her soon when we go to a gig in Leeds (thats in the north of england!)

Going for a family meal tommorrow night at some posh restaurant my parents booked. I have to wear smart trousers and everything, it all sounds very swanky!

Its strange being back in that I didn't really want to come home, but I'm sure I'll get used to it in time. I definitely wanna come back to Maine and I'll probably be back sooner than you know it, hopefully for a summer.

Anyways, thats all the news from the first few days back in england.
I'll let you all know if anything slightly interesting happens!
